From London To Greenbrae24 photos Our clients lived in London for 20 plus years and returned to the U.S. with a load of beautiful antique furniture, rugs and collections from their global travels. Our project involved transitioning these items from a 3 story Victorian walkup townhome in London to a multi level, contemporary home with water and mountain views in Greenbrae, CA. We were inspired by the beautiful colors of the water and the smoky greens of Mount Tamalpais and created a palette of water colors: blues, grays, mushroom, smoky greens. We were also inspired by the lovely antique Tabriz living room rug and pulled our furniture and drapery fabric colors from the soft blue, mushroom, taupe and green in the rug pattern. We removed a chunky fireplace surround and designed a lovely transitional fireplace and bookcase to showcase stellar contemporary original art from Stephanie Breitbard Fine Arts and beautiful collections of asian ceramics, boxes and sculpture from the owners personal collection.
We added some fun contemporary lighting by Ultralights and installed wireless controlled recessed lighting in the living room, designed by Lockwood Electric.
The upstairs master bedroom was painted in a custom Farrow and Ball paint color used by the client in their London bedroom, and we added custom Fabricut Fabrics valances and bedding created by Trend Drapery in San Rafael, CA.
This was a year long project during which we became very close to the homeowners, and their stellar English Lab, Mr. Riley. It was, as the Brits might say, "A Brilliant Project!"

Our client desired a serene, welcoming and cheerful room that incorporated several beautiful Asian screens and Korean chests. Her blue and gold carpet was our inspiration. Then came the gorgeous Eldora high back arm chair in a brilliant blue velvet contrasted against a deep gold linen custom sofa, creamy shagreen tables and a stellar Eric Brand ottoman bench covered in powder blue suede with a hand pounded metal base. This room is now where the family gathers to entertain, read and relax with the gorgeous views of The San Francisco Bay.

Our design team was enlisted to refresh and update a typical California ranch style home set on a large corner lot in a nice neighborhood in Sonoma, California. Our contractors, Baron Smith Design and Construction, collaborated on a full home update of baseboards, floors, mouldings, fireplaces in the living and family rooms and updates in the master bedroom suite. Our color specialist, Belinda Hallmark, created a serene and light color palette to showcase our clients spectacular collection of rare batik fabrics, Asian and African textiles and rare Persian, Pakistani, Turkish and Indian rugs. To showcase his collection of fabrics, rugs and reference books, we converted the dining room to a textile library where special, museum quality, hanging systems were installed to showcase a rotating rug and fabric exhibition from the dozens of specimens our client has collected over the years. Our architectural designer, Mary Baron Smith, designed the beautiful custom cabinetry and bookcases. Our furniture design focused on showcasing the lovely asian ceramics, statuary, paintings and textiles. Each room showcased a custom loomed rug and the upholstery and window fabrics were chosen to add texture and sophistication to each space. Our client is living his dream in a home he helped to create with his fabulous and rare collections.

South Street Sausalito Staging Project13 photos Baron + Baron Design: Interiors.Staging.Construction
This was the second developer house on the same development lot at the south end of Sausalito. The design of this home was what we called the Tahoe Lodge. We created a gorgeous palette of soft golds, beiges, and rusts and furnished the home with Baker sofas and chairs and Palecek tables and consoles. We chose bath and kitchen counter materials, lighting fixtures, and golden stained flooring material. Both homes on this double lot were presented for sale by Randi Deutsch, Decker Bullock Real Estate and both homes sold for asking within weeks of going on the market.

We were enlisted by a developer to create a finish plan and staging design for two bespoke homes in Sausalito. We worked closely with Rex + Associates Architects in Sausalito on defining each home with a custom color palette, custom flooring, fireplace stone surrounds, kitchen counter materials and lighting design. We created a sophisticated design to complement the classic Nantucket design elements of the home. Our water color palette was warmed by the use of a high end wood and azure velvet sofa in the living room along with key pieces from Palecek Furniture. Our family room was anchored by a beautiful media center and flanked by linen nail studded furniture, fun armless chairs and original art by local Marin artists.

These photos showcase a handful of staging projects we have completed over the past 11 years. Note that each project is unique and as close to "custom interior design" as would be a project done for a design client. We approach every staging assignment as a unique project, so no two staging installations are ever the same. We use our design expertise to highlight the pluses of each property. Our staging design is focused on supporting the real estate team with their marketing. Our results are stellar: We stage to sell!

Our client downsized from a large Mill Valley Lodge home to a lovely golf course setting where they play golf 360 days a year (no kidding!) We created a beautiful color palette and mixed in unique Asian pieces from the owners collection. We designed custom rugs through Richard Habib in S F, and sourced large scale family room furniture and special art work handpicked by the clients. We softened the windows and focused the views with beautiful, simple shades and drapery panels set on dark iron rods from Trend Drapery in San Rafael, CA. We redesigned the fireplace surround in the Family Room after seeing artist, Ellen Blakeley's, work in a SF Chronicle Home Design article. Ellen created a custom glass mosaic surround, all in one piece, studded with gorgeous gold, copper and bronze glass to complement the colors in the family room. We then created a colorful home office to showcase the owners collection of antique toys from his boyhood and tinted photographs of their favorite Lake Tahoe ski runs. Finally, we designed a serene, simple and elegant master bedroom suite with tailored velvet damask fabric, clean lined furniture and unique contemporary art framed by Chandler Fine Art in S.F. Our final touches have been custom lighting from Policelli, S.F. in both the Dining and Kitchen island areas and the acquisition of several lovely glass, alabaster and metal accent pieces from Gumps in San Francisco.

Our clients purchased a developer spec home and requested our assistance with a partial remodel and upgrade of all of the important details: baseboards, mouldings, flooring, family room cabinetry, and a living room and family room fireplace re-design. Our builder was Bunnell Builders out of Fairfax, CA. Our Construction Manager was Hank Baron. We created a full home color palette, courtesy of Belinda Hallmark; installed custom lighting, courtesy of Lockwood Electric; and brought in beautiful unique rugs from Alexanders Fine Rugs in San Francisco. We designed and ordered family room furniture, dining room furniture, kitchen dining, and a kids homework and TV/media room. Trend Drapery in San Rafael created our custom window shades and drapery. Our Design Team: Gloria Baron, Maggie Baron and Vanessa Murphy.
Mill Valley Lodge Staging Design2 photos Baron + Baron Design: Interiors.Staging.Construction
Our client, a young developer and his wife, requested our assistance with creating all of the finish colors and the staging for a large, lodge style Mill Valley home. The home was designed on 4 levels, like a tree house, and our task was to create a cohesive design to pull the home together and make it appear more family friendly or retreat like for a couple with very strong legs!
We created a comfortable and contemporary living room design focused on the two level ballast stone fireplace (yes, loads of old ballast stones from China that had been used as ballast in the holds of old tall ships bringing goods from China in the 1800's.) The media room was on the lowest level, dark and set apart. We created a cool palette of greys, oranges and chocolate, added zebra print chairs and cool textile accent pillows for a fun, accessible and family ready space.
